Abstract

Biodegradable, bio-based and biocompatible alternatives must constitute the future of polymers, as petroleum limitations, climate change and health priorities are being increasingly prioritized. Poly(3- hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate), or PHBV, is a polyhydroxyalkanoate produced via bacterial fermentation, making it promising as a sustanible alternative for food packaging or biomedical applications. However, its thermal and mechanical properties should be optimized in order to replace traditional polymers.
