EXCELMAQ aims at establishing a Unit of Excellence on Advanced Materials and Quantum Technologies in the Region of Murcia. Building upon previous expertise and strong track record of publications, projects, and international collaborations (especially within the European University of Technology Institute of Nanomaterials and Nanotechnologies -EUTINN-), this project will enable a leap forward, moving from the current group of proven excellence to a Research Institute which will be able to apply for María de Maeztu seal in 4 years. To do so, EXCELMAQ lays out a comprehensive strategic plan to ensure that top-level excellent science in advanced nanomaterials and quantum technologies is combined with the right networking and institutional steps to strengthen the group position, allow for its substantial growth, fruitful international collaborations (including mobility), positive technology-transfer and public-private collaboration, talent attraction, and eventually consolidation of the Unit of Excellence. The mission of the group is to drive this endeavor with the vision of going significantly beyond the current status and build a truly unique research institution in the Region of Murcia, with a high level of excellence and international presence.
