Project PID2023-152913NB-I00 DEGESAT
DEsign of GEar drives of high precission, compactness, reliability and efficiency for a Sustainable Air Transport
Of National scope. With a Public character. It has been granted under a regime of Competitive.
Nowadays, air transport is facing significant challenges, such as the need to develop aircraft that, while remaining reliable and competitive, contribute to increasing sustainability with very low, almost zero, net emissions and an extended component lifecycle. One of the strategies driving this transition is focused on hybrid or fully electric aviation, involving the gradual replacement of hydraulic actuation systems, resulting in reduced weight and improved aircraft efficiency. This electrification trend is particularly pronounced in smaller aircraft, such as helicopters or drones used for passenger and cargo transport, encompassing propulsion systems as well. The electrification of onboard aircraft systems and the consequent use of electromechanical actuators will demand gear transmissions of very high precision, particularly in systems used for the control of surface positions. These transmissions should also be compact, with elevated values of efficiency and reliability, contributing to a more sustainable system with an extended lifecycle. The main objective of this project is to address the need for proposing and analyzing solutions for high-precision, compact, efficient, and reliable gear transmissions. This need arises from the gradual replacement of hydraulic actuators with electromechanical actuators in aircraft onboard systems. This is achieved through various specific objectives focused on enhancing the design and analysis capabilities of different types of mec
