BoND1: B6G Non-Cellular Technologies for Enhanced IoT Connectivity
Of National scope. With a Public character. It has been granted under a regime of Competitive.
In collaboration with other entities. Role: Coordinator
The subproject led by the GIT-UPCT group will contribute to two very specific areas of communication networks. On the one hand, to future IoT networks, by developing a new non-cellular technology for their deployment at an unprecedented scale with performances similar to their cellular analogues in terms of latency and bandwidth. On the other, massive constellations of LEO satellites, where new routing and transport models will need to be designed to move data volumes also at an unprecedented level within the constellation itself. By addressing these challenges, which are largely absent in the scientific literature, this project aims to generate new results and proposals that may be crucial for the deployment of future network technologies: such as, for example, the design of a robust protocol for the link layer of massive non-cellular IoT networks and a robust transport protocol for LEO satellite constellations. The coordination is justified by the complementary knowledge of the groups and their great potential for mutual enrichment. In particular, the researchers of this subproject bring their expertise in non-cellular IoT networks, LEO satellite networks, AI and cybersecurity, in line with the project paradigms. The group will commit the effort of 12 PhDs, including 3 full professors and 5 associate professors, reflecting our commitment to avoid fragmentation of group talent, facing a highly competitive global context. The knowledge generated in the project will
