Resumen

El objeto de este trabajo es analizar la relación entre la estrategia que utiliza la empresa para competir en el mercado y su rendimiento, considerando dos momentos de tiempo diferentes, antes de la situación de crisis económica y en tiempo de crisis. Para medir la estrategia se utiliza la tipología de Milles y Snow (1978) y para medir el rendimiento se utiliza el modelo propuesto por Quinn y Rohrbaugh (1983). Para ello se realiza un estudio empírico sobre una muestra de 983 MIPYMES del Distrito Federal de México. Los resultados muestran que la estrategia es un factor importante para el desarrollo de la MIPYME, tanto en épocas de crecimiento como de crisis económico, dado que ésta influye de forma significativa en su crecimiento y rentabilidad. Las empresas que siguen una estrategia exploradora, que son las que tienen una mayor inclinación a la innovación, son las que obtienen un mayor rendimiento.
