Abstract

We currently use the Decimal Metric System and high-precision device.s to graphical analysis ofhi.storic buildings. However, in the sixteenth century the Anthropometric System of Mea.surements wa.s used based on units of length that are fractions of the size of man foot, span, inch, jlinger ... ). In addition, depending on the geographical area, the.se patterns had their own reference mea.sure. The most common patterns were the Ca.stilian or Burgos rod, the Aragonese rod, the Valencian rod, the Toledo rod, the Islamic rod and two Nasrid rods. Confronting these mea.surement patterns with modular elements of the building and checking to what scale they are adju.sted, we can determine the metric with which it wa.s built and the more than probable origin of its authors. This text f acuses on the metrical and constructive analysis of severa/ Murcian churches from the 16th century, with wooden roofs resolved with laced carpentry, to determine which mea.surement pattern wa.s u.sed. With this data, it is possible to determine the origin of the authors and, therefore, the "artistic·geographical" injluence of these historical constructions
