Hydraulic tiles are handmade decorative coverings, with a simple manufacturing process, formed in hydraulic presses by severa/ layers of pigmented cement. 1he use of these ti les began to spread from the south of France in the mid-19th century and their use was widespread until the middle of the last century. In this communication, we try to show the importance of hydraulic tiling and artificial stone factory of José Botl y Rizo, being one of the jirst factories of this covering located in Cartagena.
