Résumé

The beginning of the 21st. century is marked by an outstanding development of machinery and equipment, innovation, and technology that transforms traditional manufacturing methods into flexible manufacturing systems, aiming at acquiring or maintaining a competitive advantage. This work analyzes results of a survey practiced on 125 manufacturing SME´s from Aguascalientes (Mexico), aiming to understand the effect of production processes in SME performance. The literature researched identifies three basic activities or factors used to measure productive processes: process automation, process reliability and managerial control. The result shows that process automation, as well as process reliability and managerial control, positively affect SME performance.
