Abstract

Occasionally, due to functional or geometrical requirements, it is necessary to support or to suspend a deck, either a straight or a curved one, from one of its edges. This paper studies the influence of some mechanical and geometrical parameters on the bending of eccentrically supported straight decks. As a major conclusion, this article proves that the deck torsional stiffness is needed to provide efficiency to the intermediate bearing system.
