Abstract

A large number of old buildings and facilities of m ilitary origin stands out in an overview of the complex of Spanish university buildings . This phenomenon happens throughout Spain, where we can identify many cases, more or less interesting. In this context, several important issues remain to be addressed: origin and reason of the military cessions; the capacity to adapt to a new university use; urban situation and location of the cases, originally and nowadays.
