Abstract

Algae growth in water stored in agricultural water reservoirs may affect negatively the irrigation system. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the ultrasounds on the wa ter quality by measuring physical-chemical- microbiological parameters and algae concentration in wa ter reservoirs. Two ultrasound emitting devices were installed in two of the four reser voirs selected for the study. Results show that ultrasounds can control microalgae growth, improving the quality of the water and hence redu cing clogging problems in the irrigation systems.
