Abstract
Antirrhinum majus is a model species that is used for stud ies about floral scent and circadian rhythms. This study reflects the differ entiated emission of volatiles between day and ni ght in this species. Thus the average emission of volatiles is higher during the day than during dark hours, with a photoperiod of 12-12h light-dark. We also have identified the exclusive emission of secondary volatiles during lig ht hours: linalool, benzoic acid - ethyl ester, gardenol and decanal. These results should be ta ken into account for samplings and for the study of insect-plant interactions, due to the feasible attracting or repellin g effect caused by these compounds.
