Abstract
In order to solve the serious hygienic situation of Murcia at the end of the 19th century, the local corporation commissioned the General Plan of the city and the sewage system project to Pedro García Faria, who had the experience on the sewerage plan of Barcelona. García Faria added various technical improvements to the drafting of the project and several urban proposals that were incorporated into the urban plans of the city during the first half of the 20th century.
