Abstract

Fruit and vegetable production is a mainstay of Spanish food sector growth and, in particular, of the Region of Murcia. This situation forces horticultural companies to focus continuously their actions for keeping in the markets without losing position over its competitors. In this sense, the adoption of Information Communication Technologies (ICT), such as Web 2.0 tools, by horticultural companies is presented as an interesting tool to improve their competitiveness. The Web 2.0 is characterized for its flexibility and ability to perform tasks with speed and interconnectivity, expediting decision-making processes and developing new business strategies. Moreover, the adoption of these technologies will facilitate the relationships between stakeholders which could be enhanced by the quality of the website. In this context, the aim of this work focuses on knowing the level of use of Web 2.0 by companies horticultural of Murcia, and analyzing the quality of their websites. The results will be useful to stakeholders in the sector to exchange information and develop strategies for using these new technologies to guarantee their success.
