Abstract

This work is the first stage of a research project which is developing a model for determining the indicator of the economic value of the historic center of Cartagena. The designed model takes into consideration four environmental dimensions: physical, social, economic, and institutional; each of them is broken down into criteria and subcriteria. To address the problem, the use of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (Analytic Hierarchy Process, AHP) is proposed. The aim of this study is to show the applicability of the model AHP and select, from among all the variables included in each area of each environment, those that have been estimated a priori as the most relevant for evaluating the historic center of Cartagena.
