Resumen
Bifid mandibular condyle is a strange anomaly of development of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). It is characterised by the duplication of mandibular condyle head. The orientation of the heads, separated by a groove, it can be in medio-lateral or antera-lateral sense. In this study a possible case of bifid condyle in an adult individual of masculine sex from the Roman necropolis of Plaga Vila de Madrid (Barcelona, Spain) century l-lll AD, is presented. Macroscopically, division of the left condyle in latero-medially sense is observed; being the groove located toward external part of the mandible, showing asymmetry among two heads. Radiological study showed the cancellous tisue as well as the cortical bone of normal appearance that could discard, in principie, a fracture like cause of division of the condyle.
