Abstract

“Conoce tus fuentes” (www.conocetusfuentes.com, the Web of Andalusia’s springs) is a pioneering project in Spain in the cataloguing of natural heritage, thanks to the cooperation of citizens through the Internet. This paper is presented in a geological heritage meeting, in order to show some of the strengths that this participatory tool can provide to the field of Geology, as well as its efficiency and easy application on other resources and territories. Due to the fact that spatial location services on Internet, augmented reality software and free Android app have been implemented. Experience shows that knowledge is essential to heritage conservation and conservation is more efficient if people are involved. Geological heritage must become a source of social and economic development in rural areas, at the same time with this effort ensures its conservation in a more effective way. “Conoce tus Fuentes” promotes knowledge, conservation and sustainable use of water resources through the tourism.
