Abstract

This paper reviews some Rhinoceros procedures for drawing ellipses that represent circles contained in planes oblique to the projection plane. After this, it presents a general procedure valid for all cases of ellipse projections regardless of whether a parallel projection system (orthographic projections and axonometry) or a central projection system (linear perspective) is used. The first group of procedures allow drawing an ellipse from the circumscribed parallelogram, while the general procedure uses any circumscribed convex quadrilateral as input data. Furthermore, this general procedure has been programmed and automated in a Python script for the 3D modeling software Rhinoceros 7.
