Abstract

A new didactic methodology for the teaching laboratory of Physics subjects is presented in this paper. It is based in togive to the students only the minimun necessary information to carry out an experiment and some objetives that theyhave to achieve. In this way the students have to think about how to do the experiment and achieve the proposedobjectives. To check if the new experimental methodology is more adequeate that the traditional methodology, a study has beencarried out. The students were divided in two groups and each group followed a different methodology. Afterwards, aquestionnaire which evaluates the methodology and the achievement of different learning objetives has been given tothe students. The analysis of the questionnaire results shows that the new methodology makes the studens think moreabout the experiment, makes the experiments more interesting and makes them understand better the involved theory. But, as a consecuence, it is harder to the students to carry out the experiments. In other evaluated aspects of thelaboratory teaching, as the involmement of the students, the grade of autonomy that they prefer and the improvement oftheir experimental and analytical capacities do not appear diferences between the two groups
