Resumo

The European Higher Education Area (EHEA) implies a new organizationof the traditional university system, characterized by teaching in overcrowded classrooms. Previous studies reveal various problems associated with large groups.The objective this work is to analyze the influence of class size on academicperformance of students taking into account the effect that GPA can have on theresults. With this aim a sample of 223 groups of undergraduate studies at the Schoolof Industrial Engineering (Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena) is analyzed. Theresults indicate that class size influence negatively on performance in boths studentswith high grades as students with low grades
