Résumé
The objective of this work is the identification and economic evaluation of social preferences on sustainable management alternatives in the Natural Area of the Segura River and its surroundings as it passes through Cieza in the Region of Murcia. Through a process of direct survey of the population of the area, the social perceptions of aspects such as the main problems, the potential of development and the preferences regarding the management alternatives for this natural space are determined, also estimating the total economic value of the program of actions through a contingent valuation exercise. Thus, 18 proposals for sustainable management of the area have been identified: 3 of social nature, 4 of support to economic activity, 4 of environmental improvement of the river and 7 of environmental improvement of the environment. All of them are valued positively by the population, highlighting the importance that the citizens give to the impulse of sustainable business initiatives. The willingness to pay of citizens to finance the proposed measures amounts to € 17.13 / family / year, which provides a Total Economic Value of € 339,057 / year for a local area.
