Abstract

The fissures and subsidences which appeared in La Union suburbs from the last 2-5-1998 on, were studied by means of a multivariate study. A conclusion has been draw: they were caused by the collapse of one or several underlying cavities in the La Cierva and Lo Veremos mines. The process may be produced by an earthquake which took place on the 2-5-1998, whose epicentre is sat in the Las Lajas-La Cierva sismotectonic fault, which goes though the affected area.
