Abstract

Hydraulic tiles are artisanal decorative coatings made in hydraulic presses formed by several layers of pigmented cement. #ese pieces were inspired by the old bourgeois tapestries and carpets, and enjoyed great importance on the Mediterranean coast when expanding from Viviers (France) to Spain through Catalonia in the middle of the 19th century. In the Region of Murcia there is a considerable number of eclectic and modernist buildings in which, this type of !nish predominates in pavements of di'erent designs, qualities and typologies. With the aim of its conservation, preservation and enhancement, a methodology is developed based on the analysis of the complexity of geometry and pigmentation of di'erent designs
