Zusammenfassung

This work aims to evaluate the impact of the COVID-19 lockdown on teaching in Spain through an analysis of Google Trends over the last two years (2020 and 2021), with a focus on the search results for the main online tools used by educational institutions to continue teaching as well as the most relevant MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) platforms to which, presumably, some students had to resort in an effort to complement their learning. In view of the results obtained, it is clear that the March 2020 lockdown triggered a sudden increase in the number of searches for the online teaching tools and MOOC platforms analyzed here, with ZOOM clearly leading the former and Udemy the latter. These results confirm the crucial role played by online teaching tools in mitigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the educational system in Spain.
