his thesis analyzes the role played by the Supply Chain in the financial and sustainable performance of the Mexican industry considering both antecedents and mediating effects. Its interest derives, on the one hand, from the fact that the supply chain is key in the current context, since it is understood as a network of companies and distribution methods that involve different processes and activities that generate value in the form of in which a product reaches the final consumer, being necessary to study their characteristics when determining the financial performance of the company; and on the other hand, the analysis of economic behavior today must take into account its environmental impact, promoting different actions that lead to companies being sustainable both from a financial and environmental point of view. We cannot forget that starting in the 1980s, societies and governments began to take measures to achieve a balanced understanding of the environment and the processes derived from human behavior, integrating environmental factors into business management systems and seeing them as real and decisively important aspects. It is from this concern that some entrepreneurial capacities have been developed to help achieve an idyllic balance between economic actors and the environment. This doctoral thesis explores some of these activities and capabilities that companies implement in their logistics, production and management functions, such as: green strategies, which involve strategic planning to create products that meet the needs and desires of their consumers, causing minimal detrimental impact to the natural environment; eco-innovation, which is understood as any form of innovation that represents an important advance towards the goal of sustainable development; the circular economy, which is understood as the optimization of resources, the reduction in the consumption of raw materials and the use of waste; absorptive capacity, the ability of the organization to identify the value of useful knowledge located in its environment, assimilate it, transform it and integrate it into its knowledge base, and thus apply it; the organizational digital culture, which studies the norms and values by which a company is governed in a digital environment. This document analyzes the effect of previous factors on the sustainable and financial performance of the company. These capacities are strongly linked to the supply chain, this being the central nucleus of this document in its levels of sustainability and resilience. Two databases made up of Mexican companies in the manufacturing industry were used. The choice of this industry is justified by the impact it has on the main economic engines because of its contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and on the environment.
