Resumen

Nomography is a scientific discipline that graphically represents complex formulae using nomograms, allowing the calculation of three or more mathematical variables. During the 20th century, this technique was widely used in engineering, medicine, electronics, physical sciences, biological sciences, etc. However, with the advent of calculators and computers, the construction of new nomograms and their teaching at the university level declined. In recent years, nomography has been revived with the help of programming codes such as PyNomo and Nomogen, based on Python, which can generate a nomogram in a matter of seconds, as opposed to the hours previously required. This paper presents these open codes and some nomograms generated with them, analyzing their usability, accuracy, and contribution to the relationship between variables in mathematical expressions. Finally, the possibilities of using nomograms in teaching and project engineering are highlighted. Keywords: Nomography; PyNomo; Nomogen; Project engineering; teaching
