Aspectos de seguridad y normativa sobre calentamiento con microondas

Abstract

In this chapter, the regulations on security aspects for microwave heating devicesare introduced. Initially, the first initiatives that appeared for controlling theradiated emission of the microwave equipment are reported. Then, basic notionson Electromagnetic Compatibility are provided to approach a general view of thenorms and of the organisms that currently, create, develop and update them ineach country or region. The European Regulations are deeply analyzed, includingComunitary Directives and particularizing them for the case of a member country asit is Spain. The contents of the norms that can be applied to the heating microwavedevices are described in detail: the types of devices, the classes of microwaveapplicators considering the environments for which they have been designed, thestablished limits, the measurement equipment needed, the methods for measuring,and the instrumentation employed. Finally, the organisms that regulate the normsin other countries are cited.
