Résumé

A two-year experiment with sweet cherry (P. avium L. cv “Prime Giant”) trees underregulated deficit irrigation conditions was carried out to ascertain which of the followingcommonly used plant water indicators is most effective for irrigation scheduling: discretemeasures of t (midday stem water potential) and gs (stomatal conductance) or continuousmeasurements of the branch diameter fluctuations, MCD (maximum daily branchshrinkage). MCD first identified irrigation changes and showed high signal intensity. Moreover, a threshold of -1.3 MPa is proposed in cherry trees irrigation managementaccording to MCD.
