Abstract

The reduction of ship pollutants is a key point in the international agenda. The emissions estimation isusually based on standard calculations for different scenarios. This work research shows a numericalstudy to value the influence of added resistance on commercial ship route. This theory approachhelps to study the impact on ship emissions and freight throughput. As relevant results that can berevealed, a difference of up to 50% in pollutant emission estimation is noticed if added resistanceis considered. Additionally, the added resistance conditions could lead to a freight loss of 18% peroperational year.
