Résumé

Few aerobiological allergic asthma epidemiological studies are focused on aeroallergen quantification as most of them only consider pollen counts. Aller-gens should be quantified as submicronic particles since they are responsible for allergic asthma. Some authors consider intact pollen grains are unlikely to intrude into the deeper airways due to their size. Although weeds are considered one important source of airborne pollen allergens in the Mediterranean areas, a high sensitization prevalence rate of 11–12% has also been found in the Northern area of Spain. In order to obtain more exact data of their allergenic activity in the bioaerosol, the objective of this study was to establish the correlation between Urticaceae pollen and Par j 1-2 allergen concentrations.
