Abstract

The activity carried out by the students during the practical sessions of any subject is a fundamental part of the teaching-learning process. These environments are ideal for applying collaborative learning techniques designed for students to develop skills related to the resolution of proposed problems and teamwork. In order to encourage collaborative work and to involve students more in their own learning process, a peer mentoring activity has been included in the practical sessions. In this activity, a practice is assigned to each small group of students to act as mentors. This implies that this group of students must understand the content related to the practice they mentor, as well as its execution,in order to guide and help the rest of their classmates in the realization of this practice. The results of the study conducted after the completion of the mentoring activity show that this activity has increased the degree of understanding of the contents taught and improved the ability of students to work as a team.
