Resumen

5G is currently being rolled-out in many countries and nationwide networks with successive provisioning of new communication capabilities and services will keep the industry busy for many years. However, academia and industry have initiated research on fundamentals of the next generation of wireless communication (6G). In this paper, we will discuss challenges to realize flexible and cost-effective antenna systems for these next generation communication systems. The focus will be on the antenna and antenna system requirements and challenges from an industrial view and particularly on the millimeter wave (mm-wave) and sub-THz frequency range.
