Resumen
Esteban de Ameyda was named Bishop of Cartagena in 1546 when he came to Spain as chaplain to Isabel ofPortugal upon marrying Charles V. He founded and sponsored the Jesuit College of San Esteban where he wasburied in a tomb that he commissioned from Bartholomew of Lugano. Te tomb was dismantled sometime in theXVII century and placed in a niche on the side of the apse. In the 1981 Church adaptation project carried out by theProvincial Council, it was removed from the niche and assembled in the sacristy, but it was assembled incomplete. In the year 2023, when having to empty a warehouse, four Carrara marble sculptures appear that correspond tothe sculptures of the tomb and that represent the four fathers of the Latin Church. In June 2023, a project will becarried out by the D.G. of Heritage of the Consejería of Finance to mount them in the Sepulcher
