Francisco Javier Sánchez Velasco is Industrial Engineer from Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (Spain) and received the Postgraduate Diploma Course in Fluid Dynamics from von Karman Institute (Belgium) in 2004 and the PhD degree with Honors in Industrial Technologies from Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (Spain) in 2008. He worked as researcher at the Laboratory of Analysis of Safety Systems at the Nuclear Safety Research Unit of CIEMAT (Madrid) from 2005 until 2008 and as Assistant Professor at Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena in Thermal Engineering from 2009 to 2011. From 2011 to 2018 he was Associate Professor at University Centre of Defence at the Spanish Air Force Academy and Head of the Department of Engineering and Applied Technologies from 2014 to 2018. He joined back the faculty of Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena in 2018. He is currently Associate Professor from the Department of Thermal and Fluids Engineering at Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena. His main research interests are fluid mechanics, heat pumps, aerosol technology, aerodynamics and nuclear safety.
