Hector M. Conesa graduated as an Agricultural Engineer at the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (2001). He did his Ph.D. between the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Zurich (ETH-Zurich). Afterwards, he worked as a Postdoctoral researcher for four years at the ETH-Zurich and for one year as an Environmental Engineer at Befesa Gestión de Residuos Industriales, Seville (Spain). He also worked for the CEBAS-CSIC in Murcia. He was awarded with the Ramón y Cajal fellowship (2011-2016). Currently, he works as an Associate Professor the Agronomic Department, Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena, Spain. His research focuses on soil contamination and remediation including the development of green technologies and the study of soil-plant relationships in polluted semiarid areas. He has led several projects on phytomanagement of mine tailings in semiarid environments. As a professor, he teaches subjects related to soil management, chemistry and environmental pollution.
