Industry 4.0 (I4.0) is significantly changing job offers and skills demand worldwide. Higher education institutions (HEIs) must drive the change by offering new I4.0-focused training content and degrees. The Malaysian Ministry of Education is driving major reforms in HEIs to improve the student learning experience by expanding industry collaboration in the design and delivery of new programmes, accelerating the adoption of I4.0 while reducing the mismatch between graduate supply and demand. The main objective of this project is the improvement of the knowledge of Malaysian Higher Education in training oriented towards a wood and furniture industry 4.0. As a consequence of this proposal, the sustainability of the industry in Malaysia is to be improved and the collaboration and development between European and Asian universities is to be strengthened. At the end of the project, Malaysian and European partner universities should be able to provide high-level training on Industry 4.0 related trends and technological developments for their students, representatives of the participating Malaysian wood and furniture industry and other stakeholders. European partner universities should also update their current training offer with Industry 4.0 related topics with the end result. All universities should improve their promotion of internationalisation in line with the recommendations of the report on the implementation of the Bologna Process.
