The Mediterranean is a unique geographic area that is home to more than 500 million people, all facing common challenges. The EU-funded MEDNIGHT project will raise awareness of common problems and promote researchers’ work and achievements to the broader public. The project will undertake a series of activities in many cities in Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Malta and Spain, within the ‘Mediterranean Science’ activity framework, promoting women researchers' work. Moreover, MEDNIGHT will reveal diverse careers, existing options and the various skills acquired, overcome prejudices about researchers’ work and demonstrate the open character of scientific research. Finally, the project will address numerous challenging issues in the Mediterranean – from biodiversity and pollution to climate change and nutrition. More than 500 million people on three continents are united by the world's largest sea, the Mediterranean, whose strategic geographic location and the shared history gives us a common character and common challenges. Mediterranean Researchers' Night - MEDNIGHT objective is to generate a Mediterranean unity, providing awareness about common problems, reinforcing researchers’ commitment, progress, and achievements and putting science and scientists at the cornerstone of our future and a relevant matter for women, men, children and youngsters.
