The requested project seeks to develop a high efficiency solar system for domestic hot water production (SSDHW) in residential buildings. It consists of a solar collector modified with heat transfer enhancement techniques (insert devices), and an hybrid energy storage tank with water and encapsulated phase change materials (PCM), which are incorporated in a fluidized bed configuration. The solar collector of the system will have an absorber panel manufactured by roll-bonding. In this way, the ducts are integrated into the final structure and any increase in their number does not imply an increase in cost. On the thermal side, by increasing the number of channels, it is possible to generate a distributed flow, which uniforms the temperature field and has a positive impact on the final efficiency of the solar collector. In addition, the elimination of contact resistance between the ducts and the absorber maximizes heat transfer efficiency in the fin around the tubes. In these absorbers, heat transfer enhancement techniques such as insert devices are ideal to improve their thermal efficiency. In traditional equipment, the welding resistance can become very important and any increase in the convective heat transfer coefficients inside the tubes do not have an impact on the overall heat transfer. However, its elimination leaves room for the insert devices to increase the thermal efficiency of the solar collector. For energy storage, standard SSDHW use a conventional water tank.
