Proyecto I+D
Project PID2022-136590OB-C42 NEWCOSYS
Design and Development of New High-Performance Components for High-Frequency Communication Systems
Of National scope. With a Public character. It has been granted under a regime of Competitive.
In collaboration with other entities. Role: Member
Today, space communications systems are key elements in facilitating services and applications in any modern digital society. Communications systems on board of satellites operate in different frequency bands (microwaves) to cover not only the needs of different sectors of activity (agriculture, commerce, defense, security, telecommunications, etc.), but also for regulation reasons and technological limitations. Furthermore, the technology of these systems differs depending on the size and application of the satellite. For this reason, these systems constantly require increasingly demanding technological developments to achieve high-performance characteristics, structures with less weigh, smaller size, and higher power handling capability. This subproject 2 is focused on this context. It is intended to carry out new technological developments of advanced antennas and filters in various technologies, to embark them in the communications payloads of future generation satellites that will operate in the C band (nanosatellites), Ku band (minisatellites), and Ka band (large high-performance commercial satellites for telecommunications, security, and defense), as well as the Q, V and W bands (remote sensing and ultra-high-speed communications satellites). To meet the different demands of future communication systems, the antennas will be mainly developed in substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology, while the filters will be designed in different technologies: plan
