Zusammenfassung

The globalization of markets and the internationalization of businesses have increased the complexity of people and talent management. In fact, the International HR Management (IHRM) has become a strategic function to the success and survival of organizations in the international arena. In this article, we review the evolution of the strategic contribution of the IHRM in multinational companies and of the international assignments role as key activity to guarantee an effective talent management in international organizations. We conclude about the main current challenges in the area and we identify the most relevant success factors. Therefore, we provide a useful theoretical framework in IHRM for both: academic researchers and practitioners.
