Abstract

The assembly of Pleco, an electrolytic pencil, is a process that includes printing of 3D parts, the acquisition of specific material and the preparation of solutions used as electrolytes. Thedescription of the entire manufacturing process is an interesting contribution made by the group of Professor Dr. Christian Degrigny of the Haute Ecole de Conservation-Arc (HECR Arc), Switzerland.Pleco emerges as an effective tool to reduce locally and electrolytically the tarnish silver, created in open source in order to benefit from the improvements provided by its future end users. With this collaborative spirit, this work presents the results of preliminary tests carried out using different types of electrodes: platinum, gold and silver; and electrolytic solutions: sodium nitrate and sodium sulfate. The monitoring of the effectiveness of the different tests was carried out by means of scanning electron microscopy with X-ray dispersive energy detector.
