The recent objectives of the EU and Spain to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy dependence for 2030 and 2050 (Agenda 2030, European Green Deal, EU SET-Plan, new EU Renovation Wave) advocate for the sustainability and decarbonisation of cities and, especially for a significant reduction of emissions in the building sector. Moreover, the draft of the new EU EPDB seeks to remove the use of fossil fuels from buildings. In order to achieve this objective, the EU and Spain are focusing their effort on the design of buildings with almost zero consumption and almost zero emissions (near Zero Emissions Buildings). In the Directive 2010/31UE, the EU set the goal of making all new buildings nZEB, something that is proving difficult to be achieved. One of the types of urban buildings with more energy demand is indoor swimming pools. In the Spanish Mediterranean climate, its consumption is around 666kWh/m2, clearly above the average for other residential and tertiary buildings in the urban environment. Besides, this type of building is one with the highest decarbonisation potential as they basically demand thermal energy at relatively low temperature. This project proposes defining and evaluating strategies for the design of indoor swimming pools with almost zero emissions through the integration of renewable energies. Specifically, it is proposed to evaluate, from the experimental point of view, the use of aerothermal energy based on the use of new transcritical CO2 hea
